FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Our first day is Monday, August 25th!  We have some exciting things this year!  We have really cool electives for all students, ranging from dance to theatre, musical instruments to outdoor education.  We have a fun and exciting new year coming up.

Our new start time is 8:15 am.

Breakfast and Lunch are free for ALL of OUR STUDENTS this year!

Tardy time is 8:30.  Tardy slips can be gotten on campus at Monticello Academy from Mr. White or one of the faculty members.

Here's a preview of our school rules!

2014-2015
1.         School begins at 8:15 and ends at 3:15.  If you arrive after 8:30, you will be required to have a tardy slip before your child will be allowed into class. Excessive absences will be referred to the attendance supervisor for further action, including Truancy law violations.  Tardy slips are obtained from Mr. White or designated faculty member.

2.         Students will be counted ABSENT from school if they arrive after 10:00 AM. If you are absent from school, a note from the person responsible for the student is MANDATORY and needs to be turned into your child’s teacher the day you return to school. Please refer to the student parent handbook for valid excused absences. Note that car trouble, sleeping late, or family trips are examples of absences that are not valid excused absences and will be marked as an unexcused absence and will be subject to Truancy laws. The note needs to include student’s name, date of absence and why the student was absent. All doctors’ appointments need to be made after school hours. If your doctor makes an appointment during the day it must be after 10:30 am, after attendance has been taken and your child(ren) has (have) been counted present for the day. A confirmation from the doctor, dentist, clinic or lab needs to be turned into your child’s teacher the day you return to school or within 72 hours.
All missed work is parent’s responsibility and will need to be made up. The student or parent will need to see the classroom teacher for the missed work.

3.         Breakfast/Lunch duty will be assigned to a group of students. The duties include wiping down the tables and picking up any trash in the cafeteria area.

4.         Please make sure you send a REUSABLE water bottle with your student daily. They will need this for all outdoor learning and outside activities the teacher has planned for them.

5.                  In the event there is an outdoor activity and students must cross the street, the crosswalk will be used at ALL times. Students may not cross the street without a teacher present and only after that teacher as given the students permission to cross the street. No exceptions to this rule!

6.                   The Elementary Discipline Policy for violations is as follows: (please refer to the student parent handbook for further information).  The handbook will be available online at http://www.thesanantonioschool.org
