Mandatory letter

If your child receives a letter like this then it is our determination as educational professionals that she or he is in need of tutoring to facilitate their academic success.  Failure to attend these sessions will result, in most cases, your child's failure to learn the necessary skills and be at the necessary level to move to the subsequent grade level.

I hope that everyone who has a child in tutoring will help us help your child be successful.

Thanks!

Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),

Your child will be required to attend Mandatory tutoring for our Response to Intervention Program. This Intervention is required in hopes that the extra tutoring will bring your child’s scores up to an equivalency of their current grade level and is necessary for their academic achievement here at Monticello Academy.

This tutoring block set aside for your child is mandatory and your child must attend. If you have any questions, please feel free to call your child’s teacher at (210) 858-1487.

The tutoring time set aside for your child will be from _________ to _________ on the
                                                                                       (time)              (time)
following days: _____________, _____________, ________________. Your child should
                              (Day)                   (Day)                   (Day)
report to their teacher’s room at the above times/days each week.
Tutoring will begin (the new times/dates) the week of February 10, 2014, and continue until further notice. Please make sure you pick your child up at the time of tutoring completion. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Welcome back!

Happy New Year!

Welcome back to Monticello Academy!  We are excited to be here and we look forward to working with your students.  Please remember to watch the weather...it's Texas and it can be cold in the morning and warm in the afternoon.  We don't have outside time unless the temperature is warm enough but with the wind, it can still feel cold, so make sure your student has a coat and hat for these chilly days.

International Peace Day

Dear Parents/Guardians:
Tomorrow we will be observing International Peace Day, which is Sunday, September 21st.  Please have your children wear clothes and accessories that denote peace, such as white clothes, flowers in their hair, hippie style of dress, etc.  We will be having face painting during the day where each child will have a peace symbol painted on their faces.  We are expecting the Media to be there as well to film the event.
We will be releasing biodegradable balloons in the afternoon and each student here has worked on a peace gift that they will exchange with the Middle school students.
All parents are invited to attend and Monticello will be at the Main campus about 1:45- 2 pm until 3 pm.  Come dressed up and ready to show San Antonio and the World that we all need Peace!

Additionally, please have your child bring 2-5$ for buying shaved ice and other treats from Big Daddy’s food truck.

Attendance

In order to have at least a 99% attendance rating, we MUST have notes for every absence.  It is our policy that parents or guardians provide a doctor's note for every absence so they are excused.  It is Texas law that all students under the age of 17 attend school.  As a school of choice, we will work with you and your students to maintain a 99% attendance rating.

It is the best interests of your child that they come to school everyday.  Even one day can make a difference in your child's educational success.  We all want the best for the children so bring your child to school everyday, even if they are sick.  If they are sick, visit with the school nurse at her office on the main campus and she can provide a note to excuse the absence.

It is the parent's and teacher's responsibilities that the children make up all work missed during the absence.

We do miss them if they are not here!

See Mr. White if you have any questions.

Students with food allergies or intolerances

To Parents/Guardians:

If your student has a food allergy or intolerance, we are required by the State of Texas to have a doctor’s note with this information on it.  The note must be detailed in which things your child has an allergy or intolerance.  Without the doctor’s note, we are required by the Federal program to provide everything that is on the menu to each and every child.  They don’t have to eat or drink everything they receive but they must be given each item that’s on the menu.

If we have the note, our cafeteria staff will make sure your child does not receive that item(s).  If you have a doctor’s note for child’s allergy, please bring it in and we can better serve your child.  If you don’t have a note at home from your child’s doctor, please call the doctor and request one.  They can be faxed to us at the above number 210-738-0033.

As soon as we receive this note, we can more fully serve your child’s needs.

Thank you,
